DAWN's List reviews candidates' positions and experience then endorses candidates for local, state, and national elected office. Candidates are "recommended" for financial support to progressive Democratic activists and voters. DAWN's List also chooses a limited number of candidates to endorse to Iowans for more intense fundraising, candidate mentoring, and volunteer efforts.

Endorsed and recommended candidates will be listed in DAWN's List literature and on our website to encourage you to become familiar with their campaigns.

DAWN's List considers several factors in selecting candidates to endorse and recommend:

Viability - Candidates must be viable contenders with a strong campaign organization and ability to raise funds.

Demographics - Voter demographics of each candidate's district are considered.

Electability - Candidates in a race with an open seat are given preference to those challenging tough incumbents.

Incumbency- Incumbents facing a tough re-election effort are considered for endorsement and recommendation.

DAWN's List may give direct financial support to viable candidates in selected primaries and special elections. DAWN's List supporters are always encouraged to provide volunteer support to Democratic candidates in their own and other districts.
